What times are the sessions?
4:00 pm – 5:15 pm and 5:25 pm – 6:40 pm
9:30am – 10:45 am and 11 am – 12:15 pm
How much are the sessions?
This depends upon the student’s age and the service/course they are doing. Our lessons are personalised to the student’s needs so we can’t put up a generic price list on the website.
The lessons last for 75 minutes and range from £41 – £45 for the group sessions.
To discuss what your child needs, please call 0238 104 0120.
Do teachers have DBS checks?
YES! Soton Tuition does all the safeguarding checks, including DBS.
I’m a teacher, how do I apply?
We are always looking for experienced qualified teachers with a passion for teaching. Our belief is that if the teachers enjoy what they do then the students do too which means they learn better and achieve their goals. I see the light bulbs go on every lesson and that’s why I became a teacher!
So if you’re a dedicated teacher who doesn’t want to work full-time any more please get in touch by emailing jan@sotontuition.com ideally with a copy of your CV, but we’re happy to just have a chat first.
This isn’t like working in a school, so if you’d like to reignite your passion and enjoy teaching students who want to learn please call.
What other services do you offer?
Jan is also a specialist teacher and assessor of Dyscalculia and Dyslexia.
The website with information about these services is http://www.spldassessment.com
How many children are in a group
A group is considered full when there are 4 students. We will sometimes have 5 in a group to enable students who were not able to make their usual session time.
Remember: each child is getting their own individual lesson plan based on their own needs so this is not ‘group tuition’. The teacher is easily able to support 4-5 students as whilst one child is with the teacher the others are working on tasks specific to their needs. They then receive feedback on as soon as they’ve finished which is why tuition works. If they get stuck whilst working on a task the teacher is able to quickly intervene since they only have a few students to be monitoring.
The children also benefit from having each other around so it is not as intensive as 1-1 tuition.
